The Classic
The Classic is piping hot on cold winter mornings. It's icy and refreshing throughout the summer. It's supportive and endearing when you're feeling lonesome, and it fires you up in light of a success. Esteemed scientists have attempted to make sense of the seemingly magical healing powers of the dap, but studies have been inconclusive. As a clan of vikings, occupying a tavern, would lift their tankards of ale in a toast to their successful siege, modern day teens will indulge in a round of daps upon their high school's victory in a football game. Nothing beats the feeling of a crispy, loud, and perfectly aligned slapping and subsequently grasping another's hand.
The Tap
Rushing through the halls in a hurry? Or maybe somebody doesn't really mess with you like that. Giving or receiving "The Tap" consists of a simple brushing or touching of hands generally below the waistline. Consistently receiving taps from somebody you believe to be close with should prompt a re-evaluation of your fellowship, as the tap indicates substantially less companionship than a classic dap. Reminiscent of being on the losing side of a rec soccer club's high-five line, The Tap leaves a quite sour aftertaste.
The Embrace
The Embrace represents trust, admiration and mutual respect. It signifies teamwork and solidarity. Participants assume the position of standing arm wrestlers, minus a table, and will often fall into an embrace of their bodies following that of their hands. This is known as the "Bro Hug", and is well complemented by a pat on the back with the non-embraced hand. Serial Bro Huggers are known to be some of the most loving, genuine and grounded of those amongst us.
