The Jacket, an organization primarily known for typos and excessive thesaurus usage has historically provided high quality journalism to the Berkeley High Community. However, controversy regarding several recent incidents of malfeasance sugarcoated by Jacket Staff to be labeled as "misquotations" may indicate otherwise.
Last Sunday, Instagram account @bhsjacket issued an apology for 'gross misquotation of several sources' in the recent article titled, 'Students, staff battle messaging on BIHS.'" (Common Jacket L) While literally nobody cares what anyone has to say about Berkeley International High School (BIHS), it is simply unacceptable to misquote or decontextualize student interviews, and personally, I'm not sure if I can ever trust the Jacket again. We ran into BHS principal Juan Raygoza taking a leak in the D-tier C3 bathroom and he had this to say on the matter: "Oh the Jacket thing. Yeah... they really just can't help themselves. Honestly, the only reason I let them run around and do their thing is because I pity them. Now those Blazer guys, they've got something real in the works." I then asked for a dab of his penjamin, to which he replied "Nah man, I've barely got enough gas to make it to blinkerton city," followed by his signature battle cry.
We at the Blazer pride ourselves on our honest reporting and strict journalistic values, and make sure we recount each and every interview exactly as they happened, leaving no room for error. While it is tough being the best at what we do, we will do anything to represent our interviewees in the best of manners. If you believe the Blazer has ever misquoted you or a family member, please be sure to really think about what you said, as honestly you probably just can't remember.
